Verticutting removes thatch by using multiple rotating blades to lift compacted plant debris to the surface. Thatch will weaken and even kill a lawn if not prevented or removed.

Core aeration is mechanically removing plugs or "cores" of soil to reduce soil compaction and thatch from a lawn. Roots will grow longer, stronger and create healthier grass.
